When it comes to liver transplant it becomes the most crucial stage of life because without a successfully healthy liver, human body cannot perform its normal routine functions. Max was also diagnosed with the same and it looked as if the entire world turned upside down.
Max Dowedia had a dysfunctional liver and it was necessary for him to undergo liver transplant. His sister Rimalda agreed to donate the liver. They were in hospital for 2 months because the donor needed to lose weight in order for the operation to go through. The patient’s wife accompanied them on their trip. While Rimalda was undergoing physiotherapy and other treatments for weight loss, Max was kept on medication.
The transplant operation took 16 hours, but thanks to the expertise of Dr. Sanjay Singh Negi and his team everything went well. The patient Max is on his way to recovery, while the donor Rimalda is also recovering well. Max is very happy with the services of BKL hospital and recommends this hospital and its team of doctors to anyone who may need a serious surgery.
Back in Nauru where the patient hails from there is not enough technical advancement for such a complicated surgery. This is the reason that Max came to India through a medical tourism agency. He is very thankful to the doctors for making him well and in fact saving his life. The liver is the only organ in the human body which regrows once you take out part of it. Hence donor’s liver and the patients’ liver will regrow for them to lead a normal life. If course the patient and donor both have to be careful with their diet and lifestyle so that there is no extra burden on the liver.
