Dr. A. S. Johari

Dr. A. S. Johari is our only Peripheral Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon.

After completing his graduation and post-graduation from KEMH, he completed his FRCS from Edinburgh and trained extensively in both Open Vascular and Endovascular techniques in premier Institutes in Australia. He performed over 60 Endo-Vascular Aneurysm Repairs (EVARS) before returning to Mumbai and to Jaslok Hospital & RC.

Besides aneurysms, his main interests are Stroke Prevention by Carotid Endarterectomy, of which there are only a few practitioners in this country.

He has been a part of a small group of specialists who have worked to make hospital ICUs non-DVT areas, their efforts having been published in JAPI 2007.

He continues to strive for promoting foot preservation especially in the diabetic wherein he performs endovascular revascularisation; in fact he pioneered Tibial stenting in the city of Mumbai.

Of late, Dr. Johari has been pioneering the conservation of gangrenous feet even in diabetics by providing a better blood supply and mummifying the gangrenous toes.

He very strongly believes in PREVENTION - of amputations, of aneurysm ruptures, of VTEs, & very importantly, of STROKES. He is our only Peripheral Vascular Specialist and is available 24 hrs for the Hospital.
